Summary
The Inspection Technician Trainee supports the Quality Department by assisting with inspections and quality verification activities of fabricated structures. This position is an entry level training role designed to develop future Inspection Technicians through structured on the job learning, mentorship, and formal training.
Under the guidance of qualified inspection personnel, the trainee will assist with quality inspections, documentation, and verification activities while developing the knowledge and skills necessary to perform inspections independently.
Duties And Responsibilities- Assist Inspection Technicians with inspection and quality verification of materials, sub-assemblies, and assemblies to ensure conformance with drawings, specifications, and inspection instructions
- Observe and participate in inspection activities while receiving on the job training
- Assist with documentation of inspection results and quality records in accordance with company procedures
- Learn how to identify nonconforming conditions and report findings to qualified inspection personnel
- Support preparation of inspection documentation and deliverables for internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain compliance with all company quality procedures and safety requirements
- Participate in formal training and qualification programs to develop inspection knowledge and technical skills
- Work closely with Quality personnel to gain experience with fabrication processes, inspection tools, and applicable codes and standards

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Ability to learn and apply inspection techniques under supervision
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and established procedures
- Ability to use basic measurement tools including tape measures and gauges
- Ability to understand and comply with quality processes and procedures
- Willingness to develop technical skills related to fabrication inspection and quality control
- Basic proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team while receiving training and guidance
- 1 to 3 years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, construction, or related industrial environment
- Basic familiarity with hand tools and measurement devices
- Interest in developing a career in quality inspection or non-destructive examination
- Ability to read or willingness to learn blueprint interpretation
- Blueprint reading and fabrication drawing interpretation
- Welding fundamentals and fabrication processes
- Non-Destructive Examination methods (CWI/VT/MT/PT/UT/RT)
- Quality documentation and inspection reporting requirements
- Progression toward industry recognized certifications as applicable
The base pay range for this role is $28 – $28 per hour.
