MISSION:
To visually and dimensionally inspect castings to assure compliance to customer specifications and to assure that only necessary reworking of parts is performed.

• Visual Inspection: identify surface defects in castings.
• Dimensional Measurement: assure dimensional integrity by inspecting castings and fixtures for conformance to blueprint and tech card specifications using templates, micrometers, height gauges, calipers, ultrasound and other dimensional measuring devices; check casting hardness per heat treat specifications using Brinell, Rockwell and other instruments; mark castings to identify areas needing rework; work with Straightening, Salvage, and Targeting areas.
• Engineering Support: work with engineering to establish and evaluate inspection techniques; identify and resolve problems of non-conformance to specifications; enter dimensional data into computer for engineering purposes; prepare reports and information on dimensional issues as needed.
• Safety: adhere to plant and department safety rules; safely operate all equipment and tools; identify and report safety problems.
• Complete a variety of logs and records.
• Provide training and work direction to others as directed.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

• On-the-job training provided.
• Visual/Dimensional Inspection Courses and Certification.
• Ultrasound Course as directed.

• Visual and dimensional inspection skills to use precision measuring inspection tools as demonstrated by classroom training and/or work experience; completion of Visual/Dimensional course at time of hire preferred.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow specifications on Tech Cards and other technical material; ability to write and perform arithmetic calculations.
• Ability to perform dimensional inspection applying proper techniques.
• Ability to read precision hand tools.
• 20/30 correctable vision, and satisfactory passage of depth perception and color vision tests.
• Ability to provide work direction and training, and to communicate effectively.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing thirty to fifty pounds and occasionally up to eighty pounds.
• Ability to work in difficult working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and awkward physical positions for extended periods of time.

This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including ITAR and EAR).
