Supplier Quality Engineer
Join a leading manufacturing organization as a Supplier Quality Engineer, responsible for driving supplier quality, performance, and continuous improvement across a global supply base. This role partners closely with suppliers and cross‑functional teams to ensure product quality, resolve technical issues, and support uninterrupted production.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor supplier performance and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Lead supplier quality improvement initiatives to enhance performance and ensure compliance with current and future customer requirements.
- Investigate, document, and resolve supplier quality issues and customer complaints.
- Conduct supplier audits to verify product and process compliance while driving standardization, waste reduction, and continuous improvement.
- Track and improve key supplier quality metrics, including DPPM, quality complaints, and on‑time shipment performance.
- Establish and support short‑ and long‑term supplier quality objectives.
- Lead root cause analysis and problem‑solving activities using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Fishbone to prevent recurring issues.
- Resolve supplier technical challenges to maintain continuity of supply.
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and operations teams on supplier quality initiatives.
- Oversee supplier containment activities to minimize production impact from quality concerns.
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 30–50%.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 1–3+ years of supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or related engineering experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information to suppliers and leadership.
- Knowledge of GD&T, MSA, and quality management principles.
- Ability to interpret metallurgical reports and manufacturing specifications.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
- Customer‑focused mindset with experience working directly with suppliers.
- Project management experience.
- Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Knowledge of engine, axle, or transmission components.
- Experience with machining, casting, injection molding, stamping, or forging processes.
- Experience managing quality across global supplier networks.
- Foreign language skills are a plus.
