About us
e184 is a biotechnology research company with the mission of advancing in vitro gametogenesis to solve one of biology’s most profound challenges: returning the fundamental right to procreate.
We work at the frontier of cutting-edge technology, integrating cellular reprogramming, machine learning-guided optimization, multi-omics analysis, and automated experimental workflows to enable gamete development for individuals facing reproductive challenges.
Role overviewAs an Associate Scientist at e184, you will be a key driver of our experimental operations, executing the high-throughput screening and cell engineering workflows central to our mission. Reporting to the CSO, you will take ownership of establishing robust cellular assay platforms and generating the engineered cell lines that fuel our stem cell differentiation research. This is a high-impact, hands-on role designed for a technically elite scientist who excels in a fast-paced, well-funded startup environment where excellence in execution directly enables breakthrough discovery.
Whatyou’ll do
- Master cell culture: Maintain and characterize pluripotent stem lines and primary cells while optimizing conditions for peak experimental performance.
- Engineer next-gen lines: Own end-to-end genetic engineering workflows, including construct design, clone screening, QC assays, and the establishment of stable reporter systems.
- Drive discovery: Execute large-scale genetic screening experiments (pooled/arrayed) that directly inform our R&D roadmap.
- Pioneer workflows: Establish and scale robust cellular assay platforms and automation-friendly workflows from the ground up.
- BS (4+ years) or MS (3+ years) in Molecular/Cell Biology or related field
- Expert-level mammalian cell culture and sterile technique (human iPSCs/ESCs preferred)
- Proficient in molecular biology techniques (PCR, gels, plasmid preparation)
- Basic flow cytometry experience (sample preparation and data collection)
- You are reliable, adaptable, and ready to tackle occasional weekend maintenance to keep the science moving.
- Industry R&D experience in biotech or pharmaceutical settings
- Hands-on experience with CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, including reporter cell line generation and validation
- Involvement in genetic screening projects (pooled or arrayed)
- Transposon-based engineering (Piggy Bac/Sleeping Beauty)
- Next-gen sequencing (RNA-seq/Single-cell) sample prep
- Immunofluorescence microscopy and imaging
- Experience with high-throughput automation or liquid handling.
- Unrivaled impact
