We are recruiting a high-energy Outside Sales Representative for a market-leading Lumber & Building Materials distributor with a strong footprint across Washington and Oregon and a 20+ year presence in the Puget Sound market.
The OpportunityStep into a territory with strong brand recognition, substantial lead flow, targeted accounts, and full internal support.
The company is operationally strong and highly profitable. Average-performing reps earn $150K–$200K annually, with compensation heavily weighted toward commission and tied directly to gross profit performance.
You will operate with autonomy in the field, with flexibility to office from Tacoma or Rochester, supported by purchasing, yard operations, and leadership.
This position focuses on cultivating long-term relationships with builders and general contractors, supporting the vision to be the supplier of choice for building material products across the Northwest.
The role reports to the Division Sales Manager and works closely with yard managers, internal support departments (Purchasing, Account Management, HR, IT), vendor partners, and industry stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Prospect and develop new contractor relationships
- Convert targeted accounts and inbound opportunities into long-term business
- Build strong jobsite presence with builders, framers, and GCs
- Execute consultative, relationship-driven selling
- Drive gross profit dollars and margin performance
- Manage territory pipeline with discipline and consistency
- Collaborate internally to ensure seamless execution and customer experience
- Proven sales professional within Lumber & Building Materials distribution
- Existing South Puget Sound contractor relationships strongly preferred
- High-energy, self-directed hunter mentality
- Comfortable with performance-based compensation
- Strong jobsite credibility and consultative selling capability
- Entrepreneurial mindset with desire to build a long‑term book of business
We are also open to high-potential adjacent backgrounds such as superintendents or framing professionals with strong relationship skills who are motivated to transition into sales.
