- Profitably grow a portfolio of business through distribution channels.
- Develop a sales plan with specific and measurable sales objectives with Management that supports the overall company objectives and strategy.
- Lead distributor training and align distributors with appropriate internal company resources to meet customer service goals.
- Work closely with distributors to identify and close applicable LBM dealer account opportunities within the district.
- Proactively engage with distributors and customers of distributors to understand customer needs and how to support them.
- Identify present and future needs and market trends to guide company strategy.
- Contact and educate engineers and other design professionals, builders, framers and building officials within the residential and commercial markets to ensure builders products are accepted and specified throughout the district.
- Maintain current and accurate customer account records, leads, and opportunities in Salesforce.
- Cultivate multi-level networks within the regional residential supply chain to favorably influence the sales cycle.
- Resolve channel conflict to support distributors and improve customer satisfaction.
- Act as the company's representative through active participation in regional industry associations.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
- 2+ years experience in technical B2B sales required.
- 2+ years experience working for or with distribution preferred.
- 2+ years experience in the residential and/or commercial construction industry required.
- Experience in a specification-driven industry preferred.
- Equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year for year basis.
- Able to use Microsoft Office Applications.
- Effective communication skills including the ability to clearly articulate ideas and information, actively listen, and adapt communication style to various audiences—including distributors, internal teams, and industry professionals.
- Collaboration skills including the ability to foster positive relationships with internal stakeholders and distributors, working seamlessly as a team to achieve common sales objectives and support the overall company strategy.
- Ability to address challenges proactively, find innovative solutions, and resolve channel conflicts to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
- Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance required.
- 70% travel required; 2–3 weeks per month within the district. Other trips outside of the district as needed or required.
This role is performed in an office environment where a computer, telephone and other office equipment are used as needed to perform the duties of the role. This role may need to access areas within the building that are undergoing renovations which may contain jobsite hazards. Occasionally this role will be required to push, pull, bend, lift and move up to 25 lbs.
