Inside Sales Representative
Location:
Portland, OR - NE Columbia - Retail shop
We are looking for an Inside Sales Representative to partner with our customers to provide industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding equipment, and other essential supplies. You will serve as a trusted guide, advising customers on the tools, hardware, and materials needed to successfully complete their projects.
Responsibilities- Adhere to company policies including safety and use of personal protective equipment.
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external partners, fostering understanding and long‑term relationships.
- Ensure all required paperwork is accurately completed, including coding, costing, and pricing.
- Partner with customers to identify the best tools and procedures for their specific tasks.
- Demonstrate equipment use to build customer confidence.
- Manage order entry and process transactions; assist the team with the reconciliation of deposits.
- Coordinate via phone, e‑mail, and in person with customers and team members to provide helpful information on costs and delivery.
- Contribute to an outgoing call strategy to support the continued growth and success of the branch.
- Coordinate the transfer of merchandise between locations to meet customer needs.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a supportive manner with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
- Stock shelves and maintain welcoming showroom displays to provide an excellent customer experience.
- Coordinate cylinder movement and pallet organization.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in product, warehouse, or sales environments (or equivalent combination of education and unique life experience).
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced setting.
- Experience in industrial retail, inside sales, or inventory control is a plus.
- Attention to detail in handling transactions.
- Availability for occasional overtime when the team needs extra support.
- Must be able to operate in a drug‑free workplace.
- Preferred: background in gas, welding, or safety supplies; familiarity with SAP, Google or MS Office applications; detailed understanding of SAP and PROS functionalities.
- Ability to communicate clearly and warmly with a wide variety of people from different backgrounds.
