Environmental Field Technician II

Acts as Waste Technician for customer-site work. May require coordinating performance of subcontractors. Must understand and apply RCRA (Resource Conservation & Recovery Act of 1976), DOT & EPA regulations as they affect the packing, transportation, and disposal of hazardous waste.

What You'll Do:
  • Work in a safe manner while constantly aiming for no incidents or accidents.
  • Know and understand all rules and regulations specific to the customer site.

    Align with all company policies, rules and guidelines.
  • Prepare or confirm accuracy of all paperwork associated with shipping hazardous waste.
  • Complete site inspections and audits.
  • Arrange for samples and profiles to be submitted to TSDF (Treatment Storage Disposal Facility), coordinate expired profile program.
  • Collaborating with organizational leaders and front-line teams to implement processes thatutilizestaff effectively, enhance service and continuously improve the work environment
  • Adhere to Univar and customer safety training
  • Perform maintenance on equipment as needed
  • Offload and onload chemical tankers as needed
  • Perform rounds and readings and inspections as needed
  • Perform lubrication maintenance as assigned
  • Pump down outdoor sumps as needed
  • Strict adherence to documented procedures
  • Able to work inside or outside in all weather conditions
  • Ability to coordinate and help entire shift to complete all daily tasks
  • Communicate problems to management for escalation
  • Become highly technical in all areas of focus in scope
  • Be able to stand for many hours at a time if needed
  • Follow and don and doff PPE requirements for each job assigned up to full Tyvek suits with respirators
  • Work well within a team of dedicated technicians to perform at a high level with a focus on customer service skills
  • Receive orders for pickup of customer wastes; develop calendar for monthly and/or quarterly pickup schedule, if applicable. Coordinate pickups with Univar Chem Care office, transporters, and TSDF's as appropriate. Perform waste sampling and submittal to appropriate TSDF.
  • Comply with all company policies, rules and guidelines.
  • Apply and develop skills and/or obtain endorsements or certifications (i.e., CHMM, RCRA / DOT) that align with scope of work.
  • Perform all other duties as required.
What You'll Need:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • General college science background in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or comparable work experience preferred
  • 5-10 years of related operations facilities experience preferred
  • Preferred in depth knowledge of RCRA, and DOT, and EPA regulations, acquired through documented detailed work experience.
  • Function specific training and required customer-site specific training.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft office suite. Requires intermediate level understanding of Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to classify waste according to RCRA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
  • Ability to learn proper methods for handling hazardous materials and waste.
  • Customer service skills.
