About the job:
Do you have previous military, law enforcement, or armed guard experience? Are you able to lead and assign day-to-day responsibilities to the team? You are capable of multi-tasking with duties such as scheduling, performance reports, continuing in-service training, crew and program evaluation, and disciplinary action. You may be uniformed and radio-equipped to communicate with the Portland Police Bureau Clean & Safe Officers through the District communications center.
You may have access to a vehicle to facilitate quick response times. You will provide armed visual security services to ensure a safe environment and support crime prevention and incident response.
You will work closely with the Portland Police Bureau to report criminal activities and understand when not to participate in arrests or criminal investigations unless in an emergency or requested by officers. You will engage in problem-solving in coordination with law enforcement and community policing strategies. Maintaining a daily log and filing incident reports is expected. Your radio is a key communication tool with Shift Supervisors, Portland Police Bureau officers, and other public agencies as required.
You will abide by Oregon State law and DPSST certification standards and commit to further training beyond DPSST, including de-escalation techniques, mental health crisis response, trauma-informed care interventions, and social service referrals when requested.
Your background:
- High school education or equivalent (GED)
- Able to pass an extensive screening process
- Security, Military, or Law Enforcement experience
- 1 year of Armed Security
- Armed Security License
- Valid state driver s license
- Clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Report)
- Must be at least 21 years of age
