Security and Loss Prevention Expert (SLP Expert)

The SLP Expert is a key leadership position within the Amazon Security and Loss Prevention (S&LP) team. This role leads the effort to efficiently and effectively provide end‑to‑end S&LP services across all assigned operational business units. The position reports to the SLP Cluster Manager.

• Identify vulnerabilities and conduct root cause analysis using data to define mitigating actions while ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
• Actively monitor and report outcomes for systems and tools that generate data indicating site/region opportunities.
• Manage confidential investigations and prepare prompt reports of theft, fraud, and workplace violence/critical incidents.
• Utilize continuous improvement to drive process enhancements and increase efficiency.
• Serve as the department’s liaison and security/crisis management subject matter expert, keeping site leadership informed on key issues, strategies and performance.
• Identify, promote and implement security best practices while effectively partnering with internal customers to evaluate current and future security needs, processes and initiatives, incident response planning, facilitating and management.
• Domestic regional travel up to 50% of the time when applicable.
• Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach; stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts; work in an environment where the noise level varies and can be loud; work in an environment that is subject to variable temperatures and weather; continuously climb and descend stairs (applicable to sites with stairs).
• Cover 24/7 operations; must be able to work all shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

As an SLP Expert, you will join a team of S&LP professionals providing security as a service to business customers across multiple units within a dedicated geographical area. You will perform regular physical security audits and investigate policy violations, security‑related incidents, and loss events. Your investigations involve collecting information by monitoring systems and tools, analyzing data reports, and conducting interviews. Your findings help identify vulnerabilities and drive mitigating measures.

You play a key role in maintaining the physical integrity of our sites by auditing and monitoring system health, and staying with subject matter experts and external suppliers to maintain functionality.

You will also identify and act on initiatives improving our physical security infrastructure, contribute to budgetary planning for external suppliers, interact daily with external security service providers, manage education and awareness programs, and implement the S&LP plan across teams.

Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS) is the global organization that supports field Loss Prevention and is designed to support Amazon’s worldwide operations, affiliates, and retail businesses. It creates and maintains a secured environment through policy and implementation guidelines, leadership and staff training, technology to eliminate subjectivity, and auditing practices to ensure compliance.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 4+ years of relevant professional or military experience.
• 2+ years of security service, loss prevention, asset protection, investigations, or law enforcement experience; or 2+ years of Amazon (Blue Badge/FTE) experience.

• Experience implementing metric‑based strategies utilizing continuous improvement concepts.
• Experience in physical security systems maintenance/implementation and coordinating scope of work with security vendors.
• 2+ years of operational experience in risk management, audit, data analytics, inventory control, quality assurance, retail, warehouse, distribution center services, delivery service, or supply chain.
• Investigative interviewing experience; certifications such as Wicklander and Zulawski, Loss Prevention Qualified, Certified Protection Professional, Loss Prevention Certified, Certified Forensic Interviewer, Certified Threat Assessment Certification or other relevant certifications.
• Workplace incident mitigation or de‑escalation and business continuity planning experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including use of Excel pivot tables and development of charts/graphics.

The base salary range for this position is $49,500.00 - $86,700.00 USD annually (USA, OR, Portland). Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
