This position is located at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
Duties
Help
Typical work assignments include work from building plans, blueprints, and schematics to plan and lay out the routing, placement, slant, slope, fall, and proper operation of systems and equipment. Performs maintenance, repairs, overhaul, and installation of irrigation and drainage systems.
Checks, tests, makes necessary adjustments and performs troubleshooting tasks to determine the need for and the performance of repair work. Responsible for installing, modifying, and repairing systems like those described above by locating and tapping main lines, setting up system routes, placing and cutting route openings, placing hangers for proper level and slope, and determining and installing valves, traps, and unions needed for proper operation of systems.
The incumbent routinely coordinates with contractors that operate WNC's computer-operated irrigation system to adjust irrigation rates for weather, system maintenance interruptions, and other factors. Monitors both of WNC's water sources.
Coordinates with water district and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the four booster pumps on the city water system. Responsible for the operations and maintenance of the two well pumps and four booster pumps on WNC's internal water source.
Work schedule:
May be required to work Monday through Friday to include occasional weekends. Due to the mission of the National Cemetery, the cemetery cannot be closed for more than 2 consecutive days at any given time. Additionally, when a Federal holiday falls on a Monday or Friday, staff may be required to work on that holiday or a Saturday. All staff is required to work Memorial Day each year.
Staff will be required to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary to meet the needs of the cemetery. Occasionally staff may be called back to the facility to perform emergency overtime work.
