Engineer (Engineer
1) – Responsibilities
  • Operating, maintaining and repairing systems throughout the Rose Quarter related to HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Assisting with event set‑up and post‑event needs.
  • Keeping up‑to‑date records of equipment operations, maintaining safety equipment, and performing other repairs as needed.
Day‑to‑Day Tasks
  • Maintaining the building's fire life safety equipment.
  • Starting and checking equipment for accurate operation.
  • Reading meters, gauges, or automatic recording devices at specified intervals to verify operation conditions.
  • Operating the building management system and other equipment related to making ice for hockey and other ice shows.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on building's HVAC equipment.
  • Performing miscellaneous repair work incidental to operating duties.
  • Assisting with event preparations and post‑event needs as necessary.
  • Keeping records of operations, temperatures, pressures, and fuel consumed.
  • Responding to plumbing, electrical, temperature, and other miscellaneous trouble calls.
  • Providing mentorship or instruction to teammates and employees by demonstrating how to perform certain tasks and procedures or solve problems.
Desired Qualifications
  • Completed the State of Oregon apprenticeship for Operating Engineers or equivalent.
  • 4 years of experience as an Operating Engineer in a large commercial facility.
  • Possession of an LME electrical license.
  • Possession of a CFC universal card.
  • Knowledge of DDC software.
  • Technically savvy and can operate a PC and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience operating, maintaining and repairing low‑pressure boilers, centrifugal chillers and plumbing fixtures.
  • Understanding of gas and electric welding used in the fabrication process.
  • Love collaborating and working alongside other facility personnel, tenants, and clients.
  • Passion for leadership and ability to lead all aspects of a work crew, as required.
  • Hardworking and knowledgeable of electrical, mechanical and pneumatic controls.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as directed by events scheduled.
Compensation
  • Hourly rate: $46.89/hr plus an employer pension contribution of $5.50 per hour to the Central Pension Fund of the IUOE.
