Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Building Maintenance
General Position Summary
As a Facilities Technician you will be working to support the Facilities Operations goals and objectives. Reporting to the Facilities maintenance supervisor you will perform work to ensure the buildings mechanical, electrical and other installed systems are maintained in good working order. Utilizing your effective leadership and communications skills you will establish and maintain a good working relationship with contractors, and CSC employees.
EssentialFunctions
- Acts as one of the primary contacts for corporate employees on any building issues (HVAC and space temperatures, cleanliness, smoke, odors, spills, damage, emergencies and repairs)
- Will receive, manage, and complete work through computerized work ticket system (Cherwell)
- Communicate status and closure of work tickets to customers in a timely fashion via computerized system and face to face interaction.
- Reports out on contractor performance to Facilities Supervisor.
- May act as the project coordinator for small projects.
- May be required to respond to building emergencies on a 24-hour rotating weekly “on call” basis with other members of the facility team.
- Makes minor plumbing repairs, as necessary. May include replacement or repair of faucets, and other kitchen and bathroom fixtures or appliances.
- Performs basic electrical work and determines when an electrician is required.
- Hangs pictures, shelving, whiteboards, clocks, and other office fixtures as needed.
- Transports goods or equipment as assigned (may include chairs, tables, furniture and other items)
- Performs other maintenance duties as assigned by the Facilities Operations Manager such as move or furniture services and meeting set ups, Shipping and receiving support as needed.
- May be required to work off hours, overtime, or holidays as required to assist contractors with building access during maintenance activities.
- Must be able to effectively communicate (oral and written) with all employee levels, contractors, and vendors.
- Self-starter and team player.
- Must be organized and provide deliverables in support of project plans.
- Must have basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (E-mail, Word, Excel)
- Able to interpret building blueprints including electrical, mechanical, architectural.
- Minimum high school diploma or GED Equivalent.
- 3-5 years’ experience in facilities maintenance, construction, or related field is preferred.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to prioritize and manage multi-functional tasks
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, and against strict time constraints
- Ability to use standard powered and non-powered tools
