Directional Drill Operator – Civil Team

Telecon is seeking a Directional Drill Operator to join our growing Civil Team in the Portland, Oregon area. This full‑time role involves safely operating a directional drill, handling equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This position includes weekly pay, benefits, 401K, and opportunities for growth.

• In conjunction with locator, operate the directional drill using the selected bore heads and back reamers to place cables and/or duct.
• Load and unload directional drill equipment in a manner that is secure and damage free.
• Transport associated tools, materials and/or equipment in a safe manner.
• Complete driver’s logbook & daily vehicle inspection (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), maintenance and repair reports, accident, or incident reports.
• Complete a daily inspection on equipment prior to commencing work.
• Prepare the drill fluid based on site conditions prior to boring commencing.
• Troubleshoot any equipment issues and relay to service technician for assistance or resolution.
• Able to operate the drill locator as required.
• Other duties as required.

• CDL is strongly preferred.
• Must have 1-3 years previous drilling experience and working around existing buried utilities.
• Good communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
• Must be able to lift 23 kg (50 lbs.).
• Must provide a clean driving record (abstract) and criminal check prior to employment commencing.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Must be familiar with OSHA requirements.
• Demonstrated commitment to health and safety and willing to receive applicable Health and Safety as per job requirements.
