The Position
Port of Portland is hiring for a PDX Maintenance Electrician (Graveyard/Swing Shift).
From ground power units to airfield lighting, the PDX Maintenance Electricians keep the lights on successful candidate will maintain the electrical supply throughout the airport by replacing and repairing when needed. This includes maintaining the lighting on the airfields.
Hours are set by seniority shift bid per the labor agreement. Shifts may include one weekend day; the successful candidate must be available to work a set day, swing or graveyard shift. Most likely, the successful candidate will work a graveyard/or swing shift:
Wednesday - Saturday. This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

EssentialJob Duties
- Maintain electrical supply throughout the airport systems including pump stations, airfield lighting, lighting control, fire alarm, access controls, UPS, and generators.
- Conduct maintenance of electrical distribution systems ranging in voltages from 15kV.
- Troubleshoot electrical and electronic controls, including relay logic, PLC programming.
- Respond to equipment malfunction.
Education & Experience:
- Required Four (4) years knowledge of PLC-based control systems
- Or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
- Preferred Electronic schooling in controllers, data-gathering, and/or solid-state controls.
License or
Certifications:
- Required Oregon State General Journeyman license at time of hire.
- Required Maintain a valid state driver's license.
- Required Ability to obtain a Security Badge at PDX or other Port facilities with certain designations.
- Required Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Required Class B CDL is required; this role includes participating on the snow removal team during the winter months.
- Preferred Class B commercial driver's license at time of hire, or ability to obtain one within the probationary period.
- All CDL training costs and licensing fees will be paid for by the Port of Portland.
