Raymond West is looking for a Field Service Technician to join our service team! The primary objectives of the Service Technician are: to proficiently repair and service the customer’s equipment, maintain good communication and working relationships with customers, peers, and management, represent and sell the entire company, maintain and exceed productivity goals, and work within all safety guidelines established by Raymond West and OSHA.
Responsibilities- Repair all types of equipment that Raymond West sells and services.
- Update training and skills on a continuing basis.
- Train other employees as needed.
- Maintain a profitable billing level.
- Follow all Service Department procedures.
- Communicate with assigned Field Supervisor.
- Complete all paperwork transactions in a timely, neat, accurate and orderly fashion.
- Communicate all options to customers before proceeding with work.
- Have the necessary tools to perform repair and scheduled service work.
- Complete jobs within quoted time limits when applicable.
- Maintain a clean and orderly (inside and outside) vehicle.
- Maintain an accurate assigned parts inventory, if applicable.
- Always represent the entire company.
- Pass Raymond Certification and re-certification if applicable.
- Maintain good working knowledge of customers and equipment in assigned areas.
- Maintain an acceptable driving record as established by the company’s insurance carrier.
- Report accidents whether self or customer.
- Account for 100% of available time during working hours.
- Must be willing to work overtime when necessary and coordinate all overtime with assigned supervisor.
- Must follow all procedures in the company’s Employee Handbook and safety procedures.
- Must be willing to work out of town as necessary.
- Establish a positive rapport with customers.
- Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by the Service Supervisors or Managers.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Excellent organizational time‑management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Maintain effective working relationships with employees, coworkers, and managers in other departments.
- Willingness to work off‑hours as needed and assume more responsibility as required.
- Be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safety.
- Be self‑motivated and manage time efficiently.
- Be customer‑oriented and exhibit professional behavior at all times.
- Follow the mandates and procedures of the Service Department.
- Deal with customers on a face‑to‑face basis.
- Maintain a sound working relationship with technicians and fellow workers.
- Pass all appropriate certifications.
- Have working knowledge of basic DC and AC electricity, internal combustion, and diesel engines.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Basic arithmetic skills in all units of measure.
- Apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Raymond Level 1 Certified or working toward that goal, if applicable.
- Hold a valid driver’s license with an acceptable points record.
- Maintain personally owned tools per the approved tool list and additional tools as needed.
- Follow direction and work as a team player.
- Have knowledge of hydraulic systems and mechanical abilities.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance.
- Learn quickly and perform work accurately and efficiently.
- Show motivation for continuous self‑development and training.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of breakdown experience or comparable service experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Position will be based in the field and require daily travel within assigned territories.
- Technicians will be provided a company vehicle and a company fuel card for vehicle expenses.
- Must be insured by Raymond West.
- Position is non‑sedentary.
