To repair castings to meet customer specifications by replacing metal in defective areas using various welding techniques.
Principal Accountabilities WeldingObjective: to weld castings to customer and PCC specifications.
Typical
Activities:
- Review inspection/rework analyst paperwork and tech cards.
- Identify and inspect prepared areas needing repair.
- Weld areas on castings using one or more techniques:
Gas Metal Arc Welder (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welder (GTAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welder (SMAW) and Plasma Arc Welder (PAW). - Weld in compliance with Process Control Procedures and external quality control standards including aerospace standards.
- Weld repairs by placing castings on benches, fixtures or in bubble cabinets; use mirrors to complete welds in difficult areas of castings as needed; wear necessary safety equipment.
- Inspect front and back of completed welds to assure proper technique and adequate metal deposit.
Objective: to maintain welding equipment in good working order.

- Repair torch heads, replace power cables and perform minor maintenance on welding tools.
Objective: to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.

- Safely operate all equipment and tools.
- Identify and report safety problems.
This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)). To comply with those regulations, this position may require applicants to be U.S. Persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)), or eligible to obtain the required export authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or the U.S. Department of Commerce.
