Pay: $23.00/hour

We are hiring Shipyard Laborers/Firewatch personnel to support ship repair and maintenance projects at a major shipyard in Portland, OR. In this role, you will monitor hot work operations such as welding, grinding, and cutting to ensure a safe work environment while assisting skilled marine tradespeople with various tasks aboard U.S. Navy vessels. This is a hands-on position that requires working in an industrial environment and lifting materials up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

• Monitor welding, grinding, and cutting operations as a Firewatch.
• Assist with job site setup, cleanup, and material organization.
• Move tools, equipment, and materials throughout the shipyard as needed.
• Support marine trades workers with ship maintenance and repair activities.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

• Experience using hand and power tools.
• Ability to lift 40–50 pounds consistently throughout the shift.
• Previous general labor experience in industrial, marine, or shipyard environments.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.

• Construction, manufacturing, or trades helper experience.
• Previous ship repair, marine repair, or industrial labor experience.

• Earn plenty of overtime with opportunities to work 50–70 hours per week.
• Gain valuable hands-on experience in ship repair and marine trades.
• Work on large-scale projects supporting the maintenance of U.S. Navy vessels.
• Build skills and experience in a unique industrial environment.

This position is based in a heavy industrial shipyard environment and requires working outdoors in all weather conditions. Employees will work aboard metal ships, climb ladders, navigate confined spaces, and wear PPE throughout the workday. The role is physically demanding and ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work and a fast-paced environment.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
