Mechanic​/Maintenance-Dist

Responsibilities

Facility Maintenance Mechanics perform preventive maintenance and repair on material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and conveyor systems. They also maintain and repair general building infrastructure, including pallet racking, overhead doors, HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and electrical equipment. Mechanics maintain and repair a wide variety of industrial equipment such as sweepers, scrubbers, bailers, pallet sorters, dock levelers, carts, cranes, dollies and other equipment used in a warehouse environment.

In addition, mechanics may perform maintenance and repair on compressors, ammonia refrigeration equipment, and industrial batteries, as well as light remodeling, carpentry, painting, and moving office furniture. They inspect equipment and infrastructure on a schedule to prevent failures and downtime, troubleshoot and repair problems, and may work independently or with other Facility Maintenance Team Members. Mechanics complete work orders, manage time effectively, and collaborate with other mechanics to ensure safe and efficient operations with minimal downtime.

Experience and training in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair in material handling equipment, conveyors, and general building facilities is preferred; experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is a plus. Mechanics must provide and use their own basic tools and a locking toolbox; large or specialized tools are provided by the company.

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, bend, stoop, reach, twist and turn frequently.
• Manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance for work at ground level and various heights.
• Ability to operate maintenance power equipment and hand tools, including forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, scissor lifts, sweepers, scrubbers, and diagnostic equipment.
• Mental alertness to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities.
• Ability to learn and follow company policies regarding safe operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, maintenance power equipment, and hand tools.
• Ability to read and comprehend hazardous material labeling and follow distribution center policies for purchase orders, parts requisitions, inventory and maintenance orders.
• Exposure to potential hazards such as high voltage, welding equipment, lubricants, solvents, and normal warehouse noise levels.
