This role focuses on refurbishing and maintaining mobile units in a shop environment, including structural repairs, interior and exterior updates, and basic mechanical and cosmetic improvements. You will use a variety of hand and power tools to tear out and replace drywall and flooring, perform painting and light maintenance tasks, and ensure each unit meets quality standards before returning to construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Tear out existing drywall in trailers and install new drywall based on the required layout for the next job site.

• Use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete daily repair and refurbishment tasks.

• Operate a spray gun to paint the interior and exterior of trailers, ensuring a clean and even finish.

• Remove existing flooring and install new laminate or tile flooring according to customer specifications.

• Document completed work on each trailer using a paper-based tracking system to ensure accurate records.

• Operate a forklift to move or lift materials and trailers around the yard when needed and authorized.

• Clean windows, blinds, doors, floors, and walls in units that do not require component replacement.

• Support general maintenance and repair activities related to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, framing, and construction as needed.

• Assist as a general shop helper, including organizing tools, maintaining a tidy work area, and supporting other technicians.

• Follow safety procedures and guidelines while working in the shop and yard.

• Collaborate with a small team of technicians to meet production schedules and quality expectations.

Essential Skills

• Demonstrated "handy" or maintenance experience, such as work in apartment maintenance or similar environments.

• Ability to use basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.

• Mechanically inclined with the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs.

• Experience or familiarity with HVAC, plumbing, maintenance, repair, electrical work, framing, and construction.

• Previous experience working in a manufacturing or shop environment.

• Capability to operate or learn to operate a forklift when required.

• Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.

• Coachable attitude with a willingness to learn new skills and follow direction.

• Comfort working in a hands-on role and not afraid to get dirty.

• Ability to document work accurately using a paper-based system.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

• Experience as a general shop helper or similar role is highly beneficial.

• Exposure to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, framing, and construction tasks is an advantage.

• EPA Universal certification is a plus but not required.

• No specific certifications or licenses are required for this role.

• Ability to work additional hours during peak seasons such as spring and summer.

• Strong teamwork and communication skills to work effectively in a small technician group.

Why Work Here?

You will join a large, stable national organization that offers comprehensive medical benefits and a strong retirement program with 401(k) matching. The company provides a generous paid time off package, including 25 paid leave days per year, 11 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, and 12 employer-paid holidays annually. You will work in a supportive environment that values coachability, pride in craftsmanship, and opportunities to learn a wide range of maintenance and construction-related skills.

Work

Environment

You will work in a smaller shop environment with approximately 15 technicians, where mobile units are brought in for repair and refurbishment before being sent back out to construction sites. The role is hands-on and involves regular use of hand and power tools, spray painting equipment, and occasionally a forklift. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with additional hours expected during the spring and summer due to increased workload.

The setting is an active, industrial-style shop where you can expect to perform physical tasks, handle materials, and work in a setting where getting dirty is part of the job.
