About Trillium Family Services:

Trillium Family Services is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children, youth, and families heal and thrive. We provide trauma-informed mental and behavioral health services, partnering with families and communities to create safe, supportive, and lasting change.

Position Summary:
  • Hours: 40 hours week/flexible schedule
  • Pay: starts at $22.00/hour (DOE)
The Family Support Specialist plays a vital role in supporting children and families involved in Trillium Family Services programs. This position works closely with families to build skills, strengthen relationships, and connect them with community resources. The Family Support Specialist brings a family-centered, strengths-based approach and often draws from lived experience to support families navigating complex systems.

Education & Experience:
  • Must have Direct lived experience as a family member parenting a child or youth navigating the challenges of the children's mental and behavioral health care system.
  • Experience with the System of Care
  • Must have a driver's license and reliable personal transportation.
  • Strong advocacy skills.
    • THW Certification preferred
    • Associate degree or bachelor's degree preferred but not required
About You:
  • Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with Trillium staff.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Attends committee and leadership meetings as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates leadership and training skills, functioning as an effective leader and team player.
  • Demonstrates acceptance of a variety of lifestyles, behaviors, and cultures.
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
  • Assist with family voice in policy development and agency decision-making, including meeting regularly with agency teams, leadership and the Family Partnership Coordinator.
  • Provide technical assistance to Trillium staff on the implementation of meaningful family and youth involvement.
  • May conduct training for staff on meaningful family and youth involvement with up-dated curriculum as needed.
  • May run family support groups and parent skills trainings as appropriate.
  • Attend team meetings to ensure families are supported and empowered to advocate for their child and family's needs.
  • Connect family members and youth being served at Trillium with local support networks.
  • Participate in local and statewide children's mental health system improvement work, including attending the Oregon Family Workforce Association meeting and other advisory committees as appropriate.
