Job Summary
Home Study & Post Release Services provides case management services to unaccompanied immigrant children and youth released from federal custody. The Clinical Case Manager’s objective is to achieve family stabilization and equip families with the information, skills, and confidence to access medical, legal, mental health, educational, and other community resources essential for adjustment and integration into the United States. The goal is to make families self‑efficient and independent.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Provide weekly home visits during the first 2 months of a case, followed by monthly visits for the remaining 4 months (each case spans 6 months).
- Assess safety, suitability of placement, and sponsor’s fit as caretakers.
- Conduct comprehensive age‑appropriate assessments to ensure basic needs are met and provide tools and resources for families to thrive.
- Provide ongoing case management and assess needs in placement, safety, education, health, mental health, legal/immigration, substance use, independent living, juvenile/criminal justice, and enrichment activities.
- Deliver trauma‑informed crisis interventions directly or connect families to third‑party resources to ensure safety, care, and well‑being.
- Maintain awareness of the Morrison Compliance Program, complete HIPAA and privacy training, and report any privacy or fraud concerns.
- Demonstrate commitment to the Sanctuary model and other organizational policies.
- Participate in staff development, in‑services, and training related to workplace effectiveness, modeling professional behaviors and improving business practices.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing, in English and Spanish.
- Apply federal and state laws relevant to the role.
- Administer policies, procedures and programs.
- Utilize critical thinking to interpret information and explain concepts.
- Maintain effective working relationships with agency employees and the public.
- Define and resolve moderately complex problems.
- Hold self and colleagues accountable within Morrison.
- Master’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or another relevant behavioral science with direct clinical experience required.
- OR Bachelor’s degree with at least five years of clinical experience.
- Applicant may be licensed or eligible for licensure.
- Bi‑lingual in Spanish and English (written, read, and verbal); must pass a Spanish language proficiency test.
- Experience working with immigrant populations.
- Age 21 years or older at the first day of employment.
- Experience with immigrant populations and family preservation or kinship care.
- Knowledge of federal, state and agency regulations.
- Understanding of adolescent developmental issues, trauma, abuse, neglect, substance abuse, delinquency, and related interventions.
- Experience writing professional assessment reports.
- Prior experience with the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR).
- Knowledge of federal, state, and agency regulations related to child welfare.
- Pass a criminal history background check through Morrison and a suitability determination investigation through the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM link: https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).).
- Regular travel by airplane and/or car to visit sponsors and clients at home.
- Travel may involve national trips if local cases are unavailable; travel constitutes approximately 50% of the role.
- Hold a valid driver’s license and maintain minimum auto insurance for personal vehicle use.
- Complete 40 hours of required training per year.
Environment:
Clinical offices, community settings, Morrison Residential, administration buildings, public locations, and social service sites. Breaks and meals are subject to interruption. Employees must adhere to Universal Precautions and remain alert to potential violence, disease exposure, biohazards, noise, and contaminants.
