Bilingual requirement (English/Spanish)

  • This position is bilingual and requires duties to be carried out in both English and Spanish.
  • The job offer will be contingent upon passing test(s) evaluating your proficiency in the bilingual requirements of the position.
  • This position may receive a 5% differential pay based on passing the required language test.

Summary of Duties

  • Empower families to achieve lasting independence by providing person-centered, strength-based coaching that recognizes each family's unique goals, values, and capacities. Partner closely with ODHS programs, community agencies, and local service providers to ensure equitable access to resources and opportunities for self-sufficiency.
  • Engage families through comprehensive assessments and collaborative goal setting to identify strengths, barriers, and support systems. Work with adults to create actionable plans that align with their vision for stability and success, supporting their journey toward reducing or ending reliance on public assistance.
  • Collaborate with adults to develop individualized coaching and employment plans using a continuum of JOBS activities. These plans emphasize meaningful participation, skill-building, education, and work experiences that enhance employability and overall family well-being.
  • Evaluate employability readiness and connect participants to sustainable opportunities by identifying transferable skills, facilitating access to job training and work experience, and making targeted referrals to community partners. Use motivational interviewing techniques to inspire confidence and persistence in achieving employment goals.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment services, contractors, and community resources to effectively tailor referrals and supports for families with varying levels of employment readiness—including those re-entering the workforce, individuals with limited experience, or those with criminal justice involvement.
  • Support individuals experiencing domestic violence through crisis intervention and safety planning, ensuring immediate access to resources, emergency funding, and ongoing support. Determine program eligibility, issue grant payments when appropriate, and collaborate with advocacy and community partners to promote safety, stability, and empowerment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in a Behavioral Science, Social Science, or a closely related field;
  • OR a bachelor's degree in any field and one year of human services related experience (i.e., work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged, employment, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, disabilities, prevention, health, cultural competencies, inadequate housing);
  • OR an associate degree in a Behavioral Science, Social Science or a closely related field and two years of human services related experience (i.e., work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged, employment, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, disabilities, prevention, health, cultural competencies, inadequate housing);
  • OR three years of human services related experience (i.e., work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged, employment, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, disabilities, prevention, health, cultural competencies, inadequate housing).
