Title: Youth Program Manager

Type: Full Time
Shift: Day, Mon-Fri, hybrid after 6 months
Salary: $68,599.44 - $80,698.80
The full‑time Youth Prevention Program Manager will engage with Native American youth (ages 10‑24) in the greater Portland area to provide culturally relevant prevention activities aimed at decreasing substance use and suicide. This role utilizes a positive, strengths‑based approach to engage youth, their families, schools, and community stakeholders. The Manager will use cultural advisement to guide youth in navigating available services throughout NARANW and within the service area.
Additionally, this position will coordinate with Tribal youth prevention teams and represent NARANW at various prevention camps and events organized by the nine tribes of Oregon.
- Provide one‑on‑one mentorship and support to youth participating in program activities.
- Develop and maintain trusting relationships with youth and families to enhance engagement.
- Design and implement trauma‑informed, community‑driven youth prevention programs, activities, and strategies for Native American youth and families in accordance with grant and contract guidelines.
- Familiarize yourself with Oregon's Tribal‑Based Practices to develop programming centered around cultural best practices.
- Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, schools, and stakeholders.
- Organize and participate in trauma‑informed, culturally relevant community events.
- Facilitate suicide prevention trainings for behavioral health professionals, community partners, youth, and adults.
- Assist with the collection of key data to measure program success and assess the effectiveness of program activities.
- Collaborate with internal NARANW stakeholders to monitor the status of current grants and contracts.
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a public‑health related field.
- Experience in mental health, suicide prevention, and substance use issues.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects including planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals and families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Experience in developing training programs for youth, families, or professionals, particularly in areas related to prevention and mental health.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Flexible schedule to provide groups and coverage, including evenings and weekends.
- Must have access to a reliable vehicle, valid Driver’s License, and proof of auto insurance.
- Must pass a pre‑employment or for‑cause drug test.
Must pass a criminal background check and DMV checks.
- Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) Certification or ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
- Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community.
