Lead Re-Engagement Youth Program Coordinator - YP008

Salary Range $26.50 - $31.50 Hourly Position Type Full Time Job Shift Day

Position Overview:

The senior re-engagement program coordinator leads and supports Nara's re-engagement program, helping youth reconnect with education and achieve their academic and life goals. This role provides guidance to program staff, manages a youth caseload, develops community and school partnerships, and works closely with youth, families, and service providers to support student success. In addition to overseeing re-engagement services, this position supports youth receiving services through our youth residential treatment center (yrtc), including educational support, family engagement, group facilitation, and experiential learning opportunities such as equine therapy.

The ideal candidate is a relationship-focused youth prevention professional who can effectively work with youth, families, schools, and community partners. This role requires strong independent decision-making, case management experience, and a passion for supporting young people through a trauma-informed and culturally responsive approach.

What you will do:

  • Lead and support the re-engagement program, serving as the primary resource and subject matter expert for program staff
  • Manage a caseload of youth and provide individualized education and re-engagement planning to support academic success and long-term goals
  • Build foundational relationships with youth, families, schools, and community partners
  • Serve as the primary liaison for educational partnerships
  • Recruit, enroll, and onboard youth into Nara's re-engagement program
  • Facilitate youth groups, family engagement events, workshops, and educational activities
  • Assist youth in developing life and academic skills, including organization, time management, study habits, goal setting, and self-advocacy
  • Track, enter, and manage program data using smartsheet to support compliance, grant outcomes, and program evaluation
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support student success
  • Participate in staff development and certification training, including becoming certified in asist, qpr, and other evidence-based prevention models
  • Represent Nara nw in the community through outreach, advocacy, and participate in meetings, conferences, and activities.
Work Environment

This is an active, community-based position requiring local travel. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently and in a variety of environments, including schools, community settings, treatment facilities, and outdoor learning sites.

Expectations include:

  • Working directly with youth and families in the community
  • Participating in equine therapy activities and programming
  • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions and around animals
  • Traveling frequently throughout the portland metro area (with gas reimbursement)
Qualifications We would like to hear from people that have:
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working with youth in one or more of the following areas: social services, youth prevention, re-engagement programs, substance use treatment, education, behavioral health, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of educational systems, including traditional and alternative pathways to high school completion and graduation.
  • Experience building positive relationships with youth, families, schools, and community partners.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel frequently throughout the community.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment and/or for-cause drug screening.
  • Ability to successfully pass criminal background and dmv checks.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, human services, psychology, or a related field.
  • Current certification, or ability to obtain, in asist, qpr, or other suicide prevention/intervention models
  • Experience working within or serving native american/alaska native communities.
  • Experience working in youth prevention, intervention, re-engagement, or school-based support programs.
  • Experience facilitating groups, workshops, family engagement activities, or youth development programs.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based practices
  • Software knowledge: smartsheet, ms office
