Role Description

The Social Work Director is a full-time, on-site role based in the Portland, Oregon. This role oversees our first Crisis Respite Home as director, focusing on social determinants of health work and behavioral health services for 12 short-term residents, ensuring high-quality, person-centered care. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising staff, leading complex care planning, and coordinating case management for residents throughout their stay.

The Social Work Director will develop and monitor service protocols, collaborate with behavioral health professionals, and build partnerships with community organizations and social service agencies. The role also involves managing staff (2-3 peer specialists on shift 24/7) reviewing assessments, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, guiding crisis respite facility clinical operations, and tracking outcomes to improve programs and resident experiences.

Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong Social Work skills, including advanced assessment, counseling, and advocacy.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Care Planning and Case Management to coordinate individualized, short-term crisis support.
  • Candidates should possess knowledge of Social Services and community resource navigation to connect residents with ongoing support.
  • Candidates should possess experience in Behavioral Health, including crisis intervention and trauma-informed practices.
  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field; licensure or eligibility for licensure as required by Oregon.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience in social work, behavioral health, or residential care settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills, with a commitment to non-discriminatory, inclusive care.
