We are seeking an experienced Aircraft Services Architect to lead the architecture, design, and integration of complex aviation software systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in aviation standards such as DO-178C and proven experience designing secure and scalable system architectures for in-flight and aircraft systems. This role will work closely with OEMs, engineering teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure compliance, reliability, and performance across aviation software platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Define both functional and non-functional aviation software system requirements.
- Decompose requirements into detailed technical specifications and architecture artifacts.
- Design and implement robust software and system architectures supporting DAL-D/E assurance levels and SAL 1–3.
- Lead architecture related to hosting platforms using cloud-native virtualization technologies.
- Ensure compliance with aviation safety and security standards including DO-178C.
- Collaborate with OEMs, aircraft manufacturers, engineering teams, and validation groups.
- Develop secure architecture designs encompassing secure boot, firmware updates, and secure communication protocols.
- Support Agile teams, participate in Program Increment (PI) planning, and conduct architecture reviews.
- Prepare architecture diagrams, design documentation, and test strategy reviews.
- Mentor and guide team members, lead technical discussions, and resolve design challenges.
- Promote design best practices and continuous process improvements.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in aviation software architecture and design.
- Extensive experience with aircraft OEMs or aviation systems (highly desirable).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead technical discussions and work effectively in global, cross-functional teams.
- Deep understanding of DO-178C, DAL Levels (D/E) and SAL Levels.
- Experience designing complex safety-critical aviation software systems.
- Proven knowledge of encryption, authentication, access control, and threat modeling.
- Experience with secure boot strategies, secure firmware updates, and secure communications.
- Experience with cloud-native virtualization technologies for hosting and deployment.
- Strong coding experience in languages such as C++, GoLang, Java, Python.
- Familiarity with Linux kernel programming.
- Experience with MySQL, Maria
DB, SQLite or similar.
- Knowledge of aviation QA processes (V&V, SQA).
- Experience working in Agile environments (SAFe or Scrum).
- Experience with AWS Cloud and cloud-native architectures.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices.
- Experience with tools such as Confluence, Visio, Draw.io for documentation and architecture modeling.
