PositionTitle: Staff Embedded Software Engineer
Location: Portland, OR
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Staff Embedded Software Engineer who will be responsible for working with a cross-disciplinary team of engineers developing and maturing our rapidly growing family of counter drone technologies. This role will involve designing, developing, testing, and maintaining firmware and low-level software for embedded systems. The work is performed in a software development and manufacturing environment with a strong commitment to quality and efficiency.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Adaptable, eager to learn, and proactive toward continuous improvement
- Ability to work in a small team to rapidly prototype and develop new products
- 7+ years of relevant experience working with embedded software
- Familiarity with hardware debugging tools (JTAG/SWD debuggers)
- Understanding of embedded system architectures
- Experience with Jira, and Git Lab or Git Hub and continuous integration tools
- Understanding of automated build environments along with automated test and deployment
- Experience using Video 4 Linux for Nvidia So Ms
- Experience with embedded Linux (device trees, kernel modules, build systems like Yocto)
- Knowledge of Real-time operating systems (RTOS)
- Understanding of serial data protocols (RS-232/485, I2C, SPI)
- Experience using application containers (Docker, rkt, podman)
- Familiarity with wireless protocols (Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi, LoRa)
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field; advanced degree preferred

Working ConditionsThe diversity of work conditions may range from an environment with little or no physical discomfort, such as a general office environment or warehouse.
Physical Demands- Must have the ability to stand, climb, occasionally lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
- Regularly required to crouch and reach to install/move equipment by bending forward at the waist or by bending legs and spine
- Involves movement between departments, floors, and worksites to facilitate work.
It is an essential requirement for the person in this role to have a legal right to work in the United States and be eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization and DoD Clearance.
SalarySalary: $140,000 - $170,000 annually, depending on relevant work experience, education, training, essential skills, and/or other factors such as specialized or high-demand professions. In addition to the annual salary, the position is eligible for an annual bonus. The pay range is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of salary or annual bonus.
