About the Role
We’re looking for a versatile, persistent product engineer who is not afraid to build reusable building blocks across the stack and advocate for the right time and space to do so. At Ashby, all our engineers ship features end‑to‑end at a high pace.
Role ResponsibilitiesAs a Product Engineer you will own a large portion of one of our products, taking projects end‑to‑end and wearing several hats traditionally held by both product and design.
- Design and build automated interview scheduling, which calculates available slots and presents candidates with selectable times.
- Build a generalized declarative filter architecture that allows users to create complex filters and compiles them to SQL in the backend.
- Specc, design, and implement a feature that allows users to complete signing offers entirely within Ashby.
We are building a next‑generation talent acquisition platform that helps recruiters schedule interviews faster, track interviewer preparation, and streamline the entire hiring process.

- Balances speed and quality, shipping high‑quality software on a tight timeline.

- Excellent collaborator and communicator, keeping stakeholders informed.
- Seeks to create leverage by automating or abstracting tedious work.
- Requires heavy project‑management structure or sprint planning.
- Prefers a highly structured tech‑lead or staff role with mainly architecture reviews.
- Only wants very exciting work and is not comfortable with broad responsibilities.
- Gets lost in details and prefers all planning upfront.
- Has no prior ownership or leadership experience.
- Wants to mentor early‑career engineers; most of our current team is senior or above.
- Introduction call with Hiring Manager (15–30 min).
- Technical screen with pair programming in our codebase (1 h).
- Three non‑coding interviews focused on product thinking, technical design, and infrastructure (≈ 3 h 15 min, possibly split across days).
Type Script (frontend & backend), React, Graph
QL API, Node.js, Postgres, Redis. Your love of typed languages is a plus.

Compensation Range$153 K – $220 K.
