Job Description

Posted Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 11:00 AM

Multnomah Athletic Club is more than Portland’s most legendary hub of sports and socializing. It’s like a small city unto itself. Where else can you find four restaurants, three pools, a climbing gym, state-of-the-art studios and fitness suite, a complex of racquet sport courts, massage offerings, a boutique, plus a grand ballroom and variety of events spaces all in one place?

To say that every employee of MAC has room to move is an understatement almost as big as MAC’s 600,000 square feet of recreational possibilities.

Want a career with a future? A campus worth exploring? A one-of-a-kind community on which you can have a direct impact? MAC is all of those things and more.

The Role

The Multnomah Athletic Club is seeking a Summer Camp Lead & Van Driver
. The Court Sports Summer Camp Lead & Van Drivers are responsible for transporting and supervising up to 12 junior campers daily at off-site parks, recreational facilities, and field trip destinations both within and outside of the Portland metro area. Daily tasks will include providing leadership and instructing camp, transporting juniors, setting up equipment, running activities, and communicating with other staff and members.

This position works independently within the Court Sports areas while also receiving direct supervision from the Court Sports Supervisor. This role requires exceptional responsibility, organization, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to youth safety.

Due to the nature of transporting youth, applicants must be 25 years of age or older, possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and demonstrate a high level of responsibility and professionalism. This position will work in both indoor and outdoor settings and must be available to work irregular hours including holidays, evenings, and weekends, as necessary.

  • Safely transport campers in club-owned or approved vehicles, including completing daily inspections and maintaining vehicle cleanliness.
  • Manage accurate check-in/check-out procedures, head counts, and required camper-to-staff ratios at all times.
  • Plan, organize, and lead age‑appropriate activities at off‑site locations.
  • Proactively manage camper behavior and respond calmly to emergencies or unexpected situations.
  • Communicate promptly with the Court Sports Supervisor and parents/guardians as needed, completing all incident reports accurately.
  • Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook effectively for documentation and communication.
  • Support Camps, Organized Activities, and other Court Sports Programs as assigned.
  • Comply with all Club safety policies, report hazards and injuries, and model safe work practices.
  • Promote the MAC code of conduct and provide high‑quality service to members.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
What You'll Bring
  • Minimum age: 25 years old
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a motor vehicle record review
  • Experience in an athletic setting is preferred (school sports, club sports, collegiate sports, intramural league, etc.).
  • Experience instructing youth is preferred.
  • Demonstrates a high level of responsibility and professionalism by always putting safety first.
  • Demonstrates effective planning, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency including working knowledge of computer applications (i.e. Microsoft Office applications).
  • Ability to effectively communicate with members, guests, and employees in written and verbal form.
  • Current CPR AED/ First Aid and Safe Sport certifications required or must be obtained before the start of summer camp.
