Hours: Monday – Friday, 20‑22.6 hours per week

Days: 176 days per year

$2500 Hiring Incentive: $1000 after first route, $750 after 6 months, $750 after 12 months

The District School Bus Driver is responsible for safely operating a passenger bus to transport students on scheduled routes and to/from school, district-sponsored events, and other approved activities. The driver enforces rules and regulations to ensure safe operation, maintains vehicle inspection, and ensures student safety during transport and loading/unloading.

• Operate school buses in accordance with district policies, Oregon traffic laws, and regulations.
• Assist and instruct students on safe riding, entry, and exit, during regular and emergency situations.
• Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and maintain vehicle in safe operating condition.
• Identify and report mechanical or operational defects promptly.
• Report incidents, complaints, accidents, or potential emergencies per district procedures.
• Clean interior and exterior of assigned vehicles to maintain appearance and sanitation.
• Provide courier services and fuel vehicles as required.
• Attend required meetings, training, and maintain up‑to‑date certifications.

• Minimum 21 years of age.
• Regular attendance record.
• Evidence of insurability.
• Valid driver’s license and valid commercial driver’s license.
• Oregon Department of Education School Bus Driver’s Certificate.
• Current First Aid/CPR card.
• Subject to random drug testing per DOT guidelines.
• Multicultural competency; bilingual preferred.
• Oregon Department of Education Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance (cost $12.50 for fingerprinting; $75 for background check deducted from first paycheck).

• Experience working with diverse student populations.
• Bilingual proficiency.
