Job Summary

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for learning the management of a small driver count and/or non‑traditional shifts (including nights and weekends). The role ensures safe and timely movement of freight, load assignment, and best‑in‑class customer service. The employee is trained to maintain compliance with DOT regulations, oversee drivers’ compliance and company regulations, and coordinate accurate planning, routing, monitoring, and delivery of freight and loads.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with drivers, reliable outside carriers, and internal contacts to ensure seamless new carrier set‑up, minimize turnover, and maximize productivity.
  • Fill in for absent or unavailable personnel and lead special projects related to optimizing fleet operations and profitability.
  • Train and orient drivers and employees, including assistance with internal and third‑party (customer) systems.
  • Maximize fleet efficiency and profitability; recommend continuous improvements, measure key performance indicators, and present customer‑specific reporting and financial analysis.
  • Manage inventory, assets, customer pools, and driver assignments to balance equipment in the market.
  • Perform administrative duties such as payroll, Net‑Revenue budget management, driver counseling, accident reviews, filing and documentation, pay issue resolution, and analysis of P&L statements.
  • Maintain yard operations, inspect equipment, coordinate maintenance, and schedule preventative maintenance services.
  • Resolve service issues, routing, mechanical problems, and accessorial pay matters with drivers, customers, and company personnel.
  • Promote the Company’s safety culture through daily safety messages, monthly briefings, quarterly training, and annual reviews.
  • Assign loads, plan routes, and monitor freight movement to provide safe, on‑time service and meet customer requirements, handling freight exceptions and driver ETA adjustments.
Qualifications
  • Minimum:
    High School Diploma or GED with up to 4 years of equivalent education, experience, and training; or enrollment and work toward a degree program with up to 2 years of study; or Bachelor’s degree. Ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor’s degree plus 1 year (or equivalent) of education, experience, and training.
  • Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company event locations when applicable.
  • Not eligible for employment‑based sponsorship.

Compensation

Pay ranges are influenced by skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications. The position may have an annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volume, subject to Company bonus and incentive plans.
