Tri Met Lift Driver - Portland (Part-Time)
We are currently on the lookout for an experienced Bus Driver to join our elite team in Portland, OR to join our Tri Met LIFT contract. As a key member, you will be entrusted with ensuring safe and comfortable transportation for our passengers, while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and customer service. Our Paratransit Operators assist ADA passengers by providing door-to-door services for those customers.

Position Subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement:
- $27.25 - $38.44 (Union Collective Bargaining Agreement Payscale)
- Starting pay $27.25 with progression to $38.44 over 3 years.
- Vacation:
Greater than 1‑year, Part‑Time 24 hours - Paid Sick Leave:

- Safety‑Focused Operations:
Execute flawless operations by meticulously following designated routes and schedules, while adhering to stringent safety protocols and traffic regulations. - Passenger Care:
Exhibit exceptional care and assistance toward passengers, ensuring smooth boarding, comfortable rides, and timely disembarkation for all. - Vehicle Vigilance:
Champion vehicle safety through comprehensive pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, promptly reporting any maintenance issues, and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety equipment readiness. - Adherence to Protocols:
Uphold company policies and procedures rigorously, encompassing seat belt enforcement, emergency response preparedness, and compliance with regulatory mandates. - Operate a transit bus or van and transport passengers with disabilities safely in accordance with Company policy and local, county, state, and federal laws.
- Provide door‑to‑door assistance to passengers to safely travel between the vehicle and the door of home or destination, including escorting and assisting passengers with mobility aids and navigating ramps, stairs, steps, and curbs.
- Other duties as required.
- 21 years or older
- Minimum 5 years of driving experience (personal or professional)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Valid driver’s license issued in Oregon or Washington before training starts
- Ability to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and split schedules
- Pass a DOT physical and maintain a DOT card throughout employment
- Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable
- Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions – 100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
- Work extended periods sitting (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces.
- Push and pull objects up to 200 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level.
- Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
