Overview
Do you enjoy working outdoors in a fast‑paced, safety‑obsessed aviation environment? As a Ramp Agent, you will be essential in ensuring that flights run on time by providing efficient ground support services.
Responsibilities- Guide inbound and outbound airplanes to and from the gate.
- Transport, lift, load, unload, sort, and transfer passenger baggage, cargo, and mail material to and from aircraft bins, belt loaders, or baggage carts in a safe manner.
- Safeguard customer baggage, air cargo, and airmail from weather, loss, theft, damage, and/or destruction.
- Clean aircraft passenger cabins between flights and stock aircraft with needed supplies.
- Operate heavy equipment such as pushback equipment and maintain visual contact with wing walkers to ensure the equipment is free of danger.
- Operate or drive motorized equipment—including belt loaders, air start units, lift trucks, push‑back tugs, bag carts, lavatory carts, and deicers; or manually push and pull push carts and containers.
- Move luggage and cargo, tow planes between gates, and refill water tanks and lavatories.
- Receive and record customer baggage, air freight, mail, and company materials as required.
- Pick up, deliver, and transport cargo and baggage to and from aircraft, including wheelchairs, strollers, live animals, and other vital passenger property, and prepare records as required.
- Complete paperwork and forms relating to work assignments, and enter data into the company’s information system as required.
- Follow company procedures and protocols to operate safely and responsibly.
- Complete all training required by the company, airport governing authority, or customer.
- Be on time, prepared, and safe.
- Work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Lift, carry, push, pull, and move items weighing 70 pounds (32kg) or more on a regular basis.
- Repetitively lift items weighing 40–50 pounds on raised surfaces.
- Carry heavy items up and down narrow jetway stairs.
- Walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop frequently and for extended periods.
- Work in cramped or high places.
- Be alert to moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment to communicate with crew and airport authorities.
- Work outside in all types of weather, around jet and machinery noises.
- Good communication skills: verbal and radio communication with flight crew, gate agents, and ground crew.
- Basic math skills for weight and balance calculations.
- Computer skills: use computer systems to track cargo and baggage.
- Problem‑solving skills to troubleshoot issues during loading and unloading.
- Time‑management skills to complete tasks efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
- At least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- For U.S. locations: authorized to work in the United States per the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
- For Canadian locations: authorized to work in Canada per the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) of 2001.
- Complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security.
- If required, secure a Customs Seal through the responsible governing agency.
- Preferred: one or more years of relevant experience.
