The Warehouse Returns Lead coordinates the daily returns workflow for Portland RDC #950. This role supports accurate and timely customer credits, inventory control, associate development, safety, and effective communication across the warehouse, sales, and counter teams.
What You Will Do:- Coordinate job-site cleanup returns, daily customer returns, and RMA/RGA activity from receipt through final disposition.
- Review returned material and supporting documentation for accuracy, condition, traceability, and appropriate next steps.
- Partner with sales writers to confirm restocking percentages and support accurate, timely customer credits.
- Monitor and clear warehouse in-process and status queues in accordance with month-end requirements.
- Serve as the primary responder for returns emails; acknowledge requests promptly, investigate issues, and communicate resolution status.
- Partner with the counter team to process canceled orders and counter returns accurately and on time.
- Assign and coordinate daily work, monitor priorities, remove workflow barriers, and elevate unresolved issues to the supervisor or manager.
- Support weekly associate performance reviews using accurate, data-driven measures and documented observations.
- Provide hands‑on coaching, process guidance, and problem‑solving support while maintaining clear accountability for standards.
- Train associates on returns procedures, systems, RF scanning, documentation, quality, and safe work practices.
- Maintain a safe, organized work area and consistently follow and reinforce company safety policies.
- Lead by example and model safe, accurate, efficient, and respectful work practices.
- Set clear daily priorities and follow up on completion, quality, and service expectations.
- Coach associates constructively, recognize progress, and address performance gaps promptly.
- Work effectively across departments and communicate issues before they affect customers or workflow.
- Demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, reliability, and a willingness to improve personal and team capability.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Previous warehouse, returns, inventory, or related distribution experience.
- Working knowledge of North Coast warehouse processes, systems, and returns procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in person and in writing.
- Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence and document work accurately.
- Ability to read and apply safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Basic computer skills and experience using RF scanners or similar warehouse technology.
- Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to completing work accurately the first time.
