Create Energy is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer & Technical Solutions Specialist to join our innovative team at our Portland, Tennessee headquarters. This hybrid role blends deep engineering expertise with customer‑facing technical support, supporting both internal engineering initiatives and the commercial team’s efforts to deliver best‑in‑class electrical solutions.
You will design, develop, and deploy electrical systems for renewable energy technologies—including solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), Software & Controls, EV charging, and microgrids—while also serving as a technical resource for sales, business development, and customer engagement.
This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys hands‑on problem solving, and excels at translating complex engineering concepts into clear, actionable solutions for customers and partners.
Key Responsibilities- Design electrical systems for solar PV, BESS, EV charging, and microgrid products and projects.
- Create single‑line diagrams, wiring schematics, layouts, and panel schedules.
- Perform load calculations, power flow studies, fault current analyses, and arc flash assessments.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, UL, and applicable local codes and standards.
- Prepare documentation and technical submittal packages for customers.
- Support in developing product and technical data sheets.
- Contribute to internal design standards, process improvements, and product innovation.
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert for the commercial team, providing engineering guidance during customer discussions, proposals, and solution development.
- Translate customer requirements into engineered solutions, system configurations, and detailed technical scopes of work.
- Support the development of technical proposals, cost estimates, and system designs for sales opportunities.
- Participate in customer meetings, site assessments, and technical reviews to ensure alignment between engineering capabilities and commercial commitments.
- Deliver technical training and documentation to sales teams, partners, and customers.
- Assist in evaluating new technologies, competitive offerings, and market trends to strengthen Create’s commercial strategy.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, project management, procurement, field technicians, and clients to drive successful project execution.
- Provide hands‑on support to field teams during installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization activities.
- Serve as a key liaison between engineering and customer‑facing teams to ensure clear communication and effective delivery of technical solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in electrical design, preferably in renewable energy or power systems
- 3+ years of commercial/ sales experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Solid Works, or similar design and simulation tools
- Strong understanding of solar PV systems, energy storage, and renewable energy sector technologies
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- PE license or ability to obtain is a plus
