Company OverviewA manufacturing company specializing in metal stamping and production operations is seeking an experienced Press Manager to lead its press/stamping department.
Position SummaryThe Press Manager is responsible for overall press department performance, including safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, workforce planning, and employee development. This role leads continuous improvement initiatives, manages departmental budgets and KPIs, and works closely with production, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams.
Key Responsibilities- Lead press operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and workforce objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and departmental KPI performance.
- Manage labor, operating expense, and capital budgets.
- Oversee press production, equipment efficiency, and shop-floor operations.
- Develop and maintain operating standards, procedures, and training systems.
- Conduct job observations and audits to ensure compliance with shop-floor standards.
- Calculate monthly and annual production loads and workforce requirements.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports covering departmental costs, KPIs, performance gaps, and corrective action plans.
- Train and develop salaried department staff.
- Promote collaboration among production, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 5+ years of metal stamping experience.
- 3+ years of management experience.
- Experience with press production and workforce planning.
- Demonstrated experience improving press productivity and quality.
- Strong knowledge of press equipment operations and efficiency improvement.
- Ability to work extended hours and rotate shifts when required.
Preferred:
- Engineering degree.
- Knowledge of IATF/TS 16949 and ISO 14001 requirements.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
This is an onsite manufacturing leadership position requiring regular coordination across operational and technical departments.
