Stamping Press Team Leader - 3rd Shift

Lead daily stamping operations on assigned transfer and progressive presses. Coordinate people, material, die changeovers, startup checks and production priorities to meet schedule while maintaining safety, part quality and accurate production records. Work alongside operators and support teams, coach to standard work and promptly escalated conditions that cannot be corrected within the Team Leader’s authority.

• Start each shift by reviewing staffing, equipment status, open safety concerns and work area readiness; assign work only to associates trained for the task.
• Verify guards, light curtains, interlocks, safety blocks and other required protections are in place and functioning. Stop and escalated unsafe operation; never bypass safeguards.
• Ensure associates follow lockout/tagout, die handling, crane and forklift rules, PPE requirements and approved procedures for jams, misfeeds and die access. Perform restricted tasks only when trained and authorized.
• Maintain 5S and TPM checks; address hazards, spills, scrap handling and material flow concerns promptly. Report incidents and near misses.

• Assign operators and balance coverage across presses based on the production schedule, skill levels and staffing; communicate shortages and risks to the Group Leader.
• Coordinate external changeover preparation, including the next die, coil or blanks, containers, setup instructions, gauges and required support. Assist qualified personnel during changeover without assuming unauthorized setup or maintenance work.
• Confirm the correct material, part number, revision, routing and setup documentation before startup. Ensure first piece approval is completed under the applicable procedure before production proceeds.
• Monitor progressive press operations for feed and coil conditions, straightener and feeder issues, strip progression, scrap removal, part ejection and in die sensor alarms.
• Monitor transfer press operations for blank presentation, transfer timing and alignment, gripper or finger condition, part travel, lubrication, discharge and scrap removal. Stop and escalated abnormalities.
• Respond to idle presses, misfeeds, die protection alarms and repeated downtime. Secure the condition, call tooling or maintenance as needed, and document the cause and action taken.
• Review actual output against the plan and hourly production board. Address controllable losses and communicate schedule risks early.

• Verify operators perform first and last piece, in process and visual checks at the required frequency using approved gauges and instructions. Audit completed checks throughout the shift.
• Confirm part identification, lot and material traceability, container quantities and labels before product leaves the area.
• Stop production and segregate suspect product when defects, damaged tooling, material mix ups or process deviations are found. Initiate required containment and notify Quality and the Group Leader.
• Document and communicate temporary process changes through the approved authorization process; never release suspect product independently.

• Confirm attendance, assign work, train and coach associates on standard work, quality checks and safe press practices; identify skill gaps and recommend training.
• Provide timely feedback and report performance or conduct concerns to the Group Leader and HR under company procedures. Participate in evaluations or corrective action as assigned.
• Keep production, scrap, downtime, checklists and work orders complete and accurate in Shop Edge and other required systems.
• Coordinate with Tooling, Maintenance, Quality, Materials and the next shift on open issues, die status, containment, priorities and required follow up.
• Lead practical improvement efforts using TQPS principles; help associates identify recurring losses and test approved countermeasures.

• High school diploma or GED required; further technical or manufacturing education preferred.
• At least two years of stamping press experience with transfer or progressive dies required; experience with both preferred. Previous team leadership or demonstrated ability to coach others preferred.
• Ability to read work instructions, setup sheets and production schedules; use calipers, micrometers and applicable gauges; and recognize part and process abnormalities.
