Maintenance Technician- Wastewater

Under the supervision of the Assistant Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor, this position performs, assists in, and is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of the wastewater treatment, wastewater collection, and water distribution systems. This position operates equipment such as jackhammers, pumps, air compressors, backhoes, and other equipment used in repair and maintenance of water and wastewater related equipment. May perform other related work as required.

This position is subject to the City of Portland’s Background Investigation and Drug Testing Policy. The City verifies all information prior to extending an offer of employment. New hires are required to provide proof of identity and legal authority to work in the United States per Federal law.

• High school graduation or its equivalent. One or more years’ experience in maintaining water and wastewater systems may be substituted for education.
• Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License with a good driving record.
• This position is essential and attendance is mandatory in the event of a storm or disaster.

• Possess a valid Texas Class C Driver License with a clean driving record.
• Possess a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality "Class D" Wastewater Operator license and a "Class D" Water Operator license or be able to acquire both within 1 year.
• May work overtime as required.
