John Turner Consulting (JTC), an environmental and engineering consulting firm serving New England, is seeking an experienced Senior Geologist to join our Portsmouth, NH office.
This is a strategic hire for a senior-level environmental professional ready to lead, mentor, and grow a team, with flexibility to work in a hybrid schedule.
Your RoleIn this leadership role, you will oversee site investigation and remediation projects, supervise junior technical staff, and contribute to business development. You will bring a strong command of regulatory compliance at local, state, and federal levels, and have the potential to generate up to $1 million in annual revenue through project leadership and client management.
Responsibilities- Lead environmental site assessments, investigation, and remediation projects throughout New England
- Prepare and review technical documents, including sampling plans, remedial action plans, and regulatory reports
- Manage and mentor junior staff, promoting professional development and safety
- Interface with regulatory agencies such as NHDES, MassDEP, MEDEP, and EPA
- Support and drive business development, including proposal writing and client outreach
- Maintain responsibility for project scope, budget, and schedule
- Contribute to strategic planning and help grow JTC’s environmental practice
- 15+ years in environmental consulting with increasing technical and leadership responsibilities
- New Hampshire Professional Geologist (PG) required; multi-state licensure is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to maintain and grow a portfolio of work worth $1M+ annually
- Strong knowledge of environmental programs (RCRA, CERCLA, TSCA)
- Hands-on experience with New England environmental regulations and permitting
- Successful collaboration with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies
- Experience managing and mentoring junior staff
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field required;
Master’s degree preferred
