Cash Applicatons Analyst

Our client, a well-established, growing organization in the Portsmouth area is seeking a Cash Application Specialist to join its Accounts Receivable team. This role supports high-volume payment processing across multiple lockboxes and works closely with Collections and Finance to ensure accurate and timely cash application.

• Apply customer payments accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with established controls
• Support day-to-day cash application activities within Accounts Receivable
• Research and resolve payment discrepancies and unapplied cash
• Partner with internal teams to address payment-related questions and exceptions
• Assist with account maintenance, adjustments, and transfers as needed
• Contribute to month-end and quarter-end close processes
• Maintain documentation and support internal controls and audit requests
• Provide a high level of internal and external customer service
• Perform additional accounting and administrative support tasks as assigned

• Prior experience in cash applications, accounts receivable, or a similar accounting support role
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in a high-volume environment
• Solid Excel skills, including lookup functions (pivot tables a plus)
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
