The State of New Hampshire, Department of Military Affairs and Veterans Services has a full-time vacancy for Veterans Education Services State Approving Agency Administrator.
SummaryAdministers the State Approving Agency’s statewide compliance and approval program for Veterans Education Services in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the National Association of State Approving Agencies, and other federal and state agencies as applicable.
Your Experience CountsEach additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
Minimum QualificationsEducation/Experience*:
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience;
Master's degree and 3 years of experience; or Doctoral degree and 1 year of experience. Education and experience must be in business, public management or public administration, communications, government, law, legal studies, economics, social services, planning, program management, compliance, or a related field.
License/Certification
:
Valid driver’s license and access to transportation
- Must pass a State Police records check
- Must be able to travel to education, professional, and vocation establishments, both in-state and out-of-state
- Must be able to travel overnight(s) when required

- Experience with U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs educational benefits and related regulations
- Experience with the National Association of State Approving Agencies and facilities who leverage the VA education benefits such as institutes of higher learning like colleges and universities
- Experience with on-the-job training and apprenticeship programs and facilities
- Experience with interpreting U.S. Code and federal policy as it relates to compliance with VA education benefits implementation
- Appointment consideration shall be given to qualified eligible veterans
- Satisfactory completion of a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs background check to gain and maintain access to their data system
- Completion of annual VA Security Certificate Training

- Personnel Rule 301.03 (f)(10) Supplemental Job Description waived per Director of Personnel to comply with personnel qualifications standards required by the Cooperative Agreement between the United States of America through the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the State of New Hampshire for the State Approving Agency (SAA) for the purposes of approval of courses and programs in accordance with the provisions of Title 38 United States Code.
Subject to review and revision, including discontinuation, by the Division of Personnel at any time. 02/13/2026
- Supervises, inspects, approves, and ensures compliance with programs, courses, or tests pursued by Veterans and other eligible persons pursuant to VA educational benefits governed by Title 38, Code of Federal Regulations, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs/State Approving Agency cooperative agreement.
- Reviews and grants final approval authority for education and training programs including, but not limited to, certificates, degrees, teacher certifications, medical residencies, flight schools, correspondence, apprenticeships, and on-the-job training based on the relevant approval criteria established by Title 38 US Code 3675, 3676, or 3672. Escalates and reviews complex, impactful cases with supervisor as appropriate.
