Benson wood is seeking a Safety Coordinator to join the team.
PositionSummary
The Safety Coordinator (SC), in conjunction with the Employee Success department, Production Directors, and Safety Committee, is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of all health and safety functions at all Benson wood facilities and locations. This position is expected to be the primary conduit for promoting a healthy and safe workplace. In addition, the SC is responsible for ensuring that the company’s safety protocols comply and exceed the regulations as set by state and federal agencies and our Trust’s guidelines.
The SC will also be responsible for reporting on safety programs and results. This role requires an in-person presence where you will be working out of our Walpole and Keene New Hampshires facilities regularly, as well as our job sites throughout the region.
- Develop appropriate protocolsaligned with OSHA guidelines and regulations related to lockout/Tagout, electrical, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, monitoring, personal protective equipment(PPE), hazard communication, and related health, safety, and environmental programs
- Ensureassociate compliance with OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 andmaintainingrecords
- Coordinate DOT Medical Cards for required associates
- Develop and implementsite-specific safety plans and hazard analysis
- Perform field observations and complete safety auditson job sites
- Conductincident investigations
- Maintain safety documentation and perform evaluations of associates
- Develop and implementsafety-related orientations, meetings,and trainings, toolbox talks,and general safety training material
- Maintainsafety inventoryincluding PPEand ensureitems are ingood working order
- Maintain inspection schedule for shops and emergency equipment (AED, Eyewash Stations)
- Maintainfall protection equipment and inspections
- Lead Joint Loss Management Committee and hold quarterly meetings
- Oversee forklift trainings and certifications
- Coordinate with shop leaders and associates to develop training classes for shops,jobsites,tools,and equipment
- Knowledgeable in industry‑specific methods, procedures, and practices
- Experience in training others
- Certification in the following:
- Ergonomics
- Extensive field construction experience as well as both training and instruction in safe rigging practices to fellow professionals
- Rope rescue knowledge or certification
- Positive, can‑do team player with strong problem‑solving skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to:
- Complete assignments accurately
- Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines
- Work independently and collaboratively within a team setting with excellent interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy with the ability to work in all Microsoft and Google applications
- Strong belief in customer service and satisfaction
- Ability and flexibility to take on other responsibilities as assigned
