Our practice is located at 7 Marsh Brook Drive, Somersworth, NH 03878. We have been a leader in sports medicine for more than 30 years, with practices located in Somersworth, Lee and Portsmouth. We are one of the largest and most trusted providers of orthopedic care in both the Seacoast region and the state of New Hampshire. Whether our patients need a joint replacement or have suffered a traumatic injury, they can count on our team of specialists!
We do our best to keep all employees in their assigned practices and locations; however, you may also be asked to float to other departments in the WHP system when appropriate and needed during times of staffing shortages/other extenuating circumstances for cross-coverage purposes and to ensure adequate coverage and support. This position will primarily be located in our Somersworth location, however travel to our Lee and Portsmouth practices may be needed on occasion.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to join our team onsite, working Monday through Friday with five 8-hour shifts scheduled between 8:00am and 5:00pm. This position offers the opportunity to provide direct patient care in a collaborative clinical setting. Optional weekend shifts are also available for those interested in picking up additional hours in our walk-in clinic.
The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.

Essential Functions- Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training.
- Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.
- Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
