THE OPPORTUNITYThe Manufacturing Manager is responsible for manufacturing operations at the Portsmouth, New Hampshire location of Galvion. The ultimate objective is to provide people centric leadership and process management to ensure the manufacturing teams meet demand requirements on time, at best cost and with world-class quality while maintaining a safe work environment.
Help build a new manufacturing team dedicated to electro‑mechanical hand assembly and testing of cables and instruments. Oversee installation of equipment, hiring of staff and establishment of processes. Create work instructions, material management methods, and other operational controls needed to deliver quality product.
People- Hire and train staff and supervisors to meet production throughput goals. Optimize production floor resources to maximize throughput while maintaining quality. Current team is less than ten.
- Coach, mentor and guide the manufacturing team to achieve process and KPI goals.
- Build a positive team environment, actively listening to staff and co‑workers, and establishing a daily presence on the manufacturing floor monitoring both people and processes.
- Lead shift stand‑up meetings.
- Provide leadership for maintenance and safety.
- Responsible for a safe work environment and implementing safety improvements as needed.
- Responsible for on‑time attendance and managing time off for the manufacturing team.
- Lead the manufacturing team in a positive, up‑beat manner, with clear communication and direction to get the most efficiency, input, and involvement out of the staff.
- Manage all Production Activities to achieve hourly, daily, and weekly production goals including direct labor for product assembly, planning, scheduling, and materials movement.
- Establish and maintain Manufacturing Resource Execution and Shop Floor transactions within an INFOR ERP system (required of all staff members on the manufacturing team).
- Manage the manufacturing team to meet daily output requirements including the use of overtime to return to schedule from delays caused by supplier delays, scrap, equipment failure, operator callouts, etc.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality to create, maintain, and update work instructions and standard operations procedures for all areas of the manufacturing floor.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Design Engineering to identify and establish work aids, jigs, test and measurements as needed to ensure quality.
- Implement engineering changes to shop floor. Participate in change control process.
- Establish controls and manage raw material and finished goods inventory position and movement of raw material, WIP and finished goods. Provide cycle counts and control/disposition of discrepant materials as needed.
- Prepare budgets, manpower need and capital needed to meet production plan.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ensure production schedules are achieved to support assembly and test operations meeting customer requirements and committed shipment dates.
- Post rolling weekly production plan and KPIs with clear indicators of daily and weekly results. Use this as the basis for daily standups highlighting areas of meeting the previous day’s targets and where the team needs to improve today.
- Work with Quality to ensure quality data generated by equipment and in‑process controls is collected, stored and analyzed to improve manufacturing efficiency and enhance quality.
- Report on production metrics including on time delivery, yields, WIP cycle time (and takt), WIP inventory, and other performance indicators as required.
