Back-end Web Developer – Vital Design
Location:
Portsmouth, NH
Salary Range: $80k – $110k
Vital Design seeks a skilled Back-end Web Developer to help maintain existing sites and build new eCommerce platforms using JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and Magento 2 technologies. The role involves collaborating with project managers, designers, and front‑end developers to deliver feature‑rich, high‑performance online shopping experiences.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain custom Magento 2 extensions, modules, and themes.
- Implement server‑side logic, database schema, and API integrations for seamless data flow.
- Optimize performance, scalability, and security of the Magento‑based eCommerce platform.
- Integrate third‑party extensions, APIs, and services to meet business requirements.
- Conduct rigorous testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to maintain a stable environment.
- Perform code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to best practices.
- Implement security best practices and maintain compliance with industry standards.
- Use Git for version control and effective collaboration.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions with front‑end developers, UI/UX designers, and stakeholders.
- Stay current with eCommerce, backend development, and Magento trends to propose innovative solutions.
- Proven experience in back‑end web development focused on eCommerce and Magento.
- Hands‑on experience with Magento 2 development, custom modules, and theme customization.
- Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, and backend technologies used in eCommerce.
- Knowledge of eCommerce best practices: catalog management, order processing, payment gateway integration.
- Front‑end skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript for collaboration with UI/UX and front‑end teams.
- Experience with performance optimization, caching, and website security in the eCommerce context.
- Understanding of RESTful APIs and integration of third‑party services in Magento.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Magento Certification (e.g., Magento Certified Developer).
- Experience with other eCommerce platforms (Shopify, Woo Commerce).
- Knowledge of cloud technologies and hosting environments for scalable eCommerce solutions.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies (Scrum) and project management tools.
- Active participation in the Magento community or contributions to open‑source projects.
