Responsibilities
  • Accountable for the safe and efficient operation of forklifts and capable of passing certification training.
  • Unload and move inbound shipments safely to storage locations or production floor and efficiently stack and store the product in the appropriate area accurately.
  • Pull and prepare product for sales orders or work orders, ensuring that the exact quantity, description, and lot number match the RF screen. Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards.
  • Fulfill work orders per manufacturing schedule, issuing materials or returning material on a real-time basis via JD Edwards AS400 application and RF technology to/from work orders.
  • Perform tasks associated with work orders as a dry warehouse employee, fluent in both JDE and warehouse BOSS, posting products accurately to buy lot, quantity, and item code.
  • Back up all functions associated with warehousing in both frozen and dry goods areas.
  • Check or count freight for accuracy and/or damage and infestation.
  • Perform daily cycle counts and participate in annual physical inventories.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
  • Assist in maintaining security of the warehouse and promote safety, reporting any food safety concerns to management.
  • Perform inventory transfers, transactions, and adjustments to inventory balances using the ERP application and/or RF technology.
  • Load, unload, move, stack, and stage products and materials using a forklift, maintaining equipment and performing daily inspections and minor maintenance.
  • Keep records and reports to maintain tight inventory control and security; ensure proper stock rotation via FIFO principles.
  • Communicate between departments so material supply does not cause downtime in the manufacturing facility.
  • Act as owner of sales and work orders, ensuring all associated tasks are completed with no exceptions.
Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge of inventory control systems and processes, and the ability to utilize them for daily activities.
  • Experienced forklift truck operation.
  • Ability to work in cold storage environments with temperatures ranging from 24°F to –10°F.
  • Effective communication with Packaging/Corrugated vendors, Manufacturing personnel, Customer Service, Engineering, Finance, and other company personnel.
  • Knowledge of warehousing processes and integration to existing company practices.
  • Ability to analyze and reconcile inventory variances.
  • Maintain an accurate, well-organized warehouse and receiving/shipping dock.
  • Interface with IT on system enhancements or problem resolution; initiate requests.
  • Manage pre-production processes (e.g., tempering work order requirements) and coordinate with production supervisors and personnel.
  • Manage inventory and temperatures of all products in the tempering room; collaborate with QA to utilize leftover inventory.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, listen, reach with hands and arms, and bend. The employee is required to use hands to handle, operate, feel, objects, tools, or controls, including operating a forklift. Must be able to lift cases/bags or rolls up to 70 lbs. Some overtime may be required.

Work Environment

The plant work environment will expose the employee to loud noise, food grade dust & odors, moving & vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks, heights, traffic, anhydrous ammonia, oil, and electricity. The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions including extreme cold, heat, rain, snow, dust, smoke, and odors.
