ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The McKinley Box Office is an excellent on campus position for student employment. The box office directly supports the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts by selling tickets and subscriptions to events. We support students throughout their time at SSU and are considerate of class schedules when coordinating the office schedule.
POSITION SUMMARY, ROUTINE TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIESAt the McKinley Box Office, student employees are responsible for processing ticket orders either via phone or counter/walk-up. They use interpersonal skills to communicate with customers to determine exactly what the customer wants. Aside from ticket orders, there are other routine office tasks such as checking voicemails, checking supply inventory, stuffing envelopes, and filing records. As for technology use, students are trained to use our ticketing software.
This software is very user friendly and intuitive. Overall, basic office operations are required to begin but additional skills are acquired through hands on training during a student’s time at the box office.
- Basic computer skills, like typing and data entry are required
- Interpersonal skills are required, as every interaction with a customer should be done clearly and precisely
- Must be willing and available to work some night and weekends, according to VRCFA event schedule
- High School Diploma or GED
- Registered full‑time SSU student
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and follow instructions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media platforms
- Follow SSU dress code policy
