JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Admissions Associate is responsible for the overall management of student recruiting for an assigned geographic territory from prospect and inquiry to applied, admitted, and enrolled stages. This person will provide leadership and oversight of all recruitment and enrollment activities and initiatives within their given territory, including initiation and maintenance of referral sources and K-12 school relationships; management of an individual student prospect portfolio;

and coordination of on-campus and field recruiting events. This position is expected to meet stated performance standards and benchmarks, as well as perform at or above goal in all areas. Review of applications will begin Friday, September 25, 2026.

  • DUTIES AND RESPONIBILITIES

    1. Recruitment, admissions and enrollment

  • Plan, develop, implement and monitor admissions recruitment programs while maintaining workloads, work-flows, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization of assigned programs.
  • Provides individual and group presentations which accurately convey information about SSU and its programs to prospective students, parents, counselors and others to include application, admission and selection processes, campus features, academic major and required prerequisites, undergraduate college and graduation requirements, academic and support services, financial aid and scholarship information, campus life and other information as appropriate.
  • Organize, create and participate in off-campus and on-campus recruiting events including, but not limited to preview days, college fairs, classroom presentations, sessions, community outreach events, and high school and community college events.
  • Disseminate information about SSU over the telephone and during on-campus visits to prospective students and parents. Responsible for answering phone calls, and answering large volumes of electronic and hardcopy correspondence received by the Office of Admissions in a timely manner. The staff member will also make outbound calls and host information sessions to prospective students.
  • Researches, interprets, clarifies, and adjudicates a variety of problems dealing with, but not limited to, admissions, registration, matriculation, residency, student academic status, course class conflicts, and fees. Works to complete all incomplete applications, as well as solicit applications from non-applied inquiries and solicit deposits from admitted students.
  • Assist in the research and development of contact lists for potential new marketing and recruitment channels, partnerships, and outreach.
  • Cultivate partnerships and pipeline relationships with other organizations and institutions, such as school districts and professional organizations.
  • 2. Onboarding Coordination

  • Assist students with the various steps required in the preparation for the start of their classes, (e.g., accepting financial aid offers, completing assessments, registration, navigating Blackboard, and also setting expectations for participation and attendance)
  • Maintains contact with admitted and registered students and/or their parents to facilitate retention.
  • Connects students with appropriate resources with the institution (e.g., career services, student success, veteran's services, accessibility services, etc.)
  • Develops working relationships with all members, departments, counselors, and advisors to disseminate admissions, financial aid, housing, tuition, and registration information to ensure and enhance customer service and satisfaction.
