GENERAL SUMMARY

Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation . The Exercise Physiologist's primary job function is to promote wellness by instructing, demonstrating, and supervising clients/patients in all related areas of exercise and rehabilitation. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

* High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required

* Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology/Exercise Science required

* Master's Degree in Exercise Science preferred

Licensure:

* BLS within 90 days of hire required

* ACLS within 1 year of hire required

Experience:

* Completion of internship or six months job related work required.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

The following is a summary of the major job duties of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

* Assists in clinical operations in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation.

* Conducts exercise/fitness evaluations, exercise prescriptions and target heart rates.

* Orients Cardiopulmonary rehab graduates who become a phase III member to exercise programs and equipment.

* Facilitates/provides patient and family teaching using appropriate teaching strategies.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

* Oversees and assist Cardiopulmonary Rehab Phase III.

* Participates in discharge planning process.
